The centre was founded in 1981 under the spiritual guidance of the Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche and under the umbrella organisation of Namo Buddha Meditation and Education Centre, a non-profit organization under which all the projects of Venerable Thrangu Rinpoche are administered.
Projects directly supported by Thrangu House include Namo Buddha monastery, Thrangu Tara Abbey and Shree Mangal Dvip school for Himalayan children.
Thrangu House welcomes people of all faiths and religions. We provide a sacred space for spiritual practice and a calm place where people can come and learn about the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Our main aim is to encourage the study and practice of Buddha's teaching to benefit society and all sentient beings. We are encouraged along this path by the kindness and guidance of our resident teacher.
